About us

We are a group of Grey Nomads and campers who have spent many years travelling the length and breadth of Australia. We started out in the sixties and seventies and have travelled hundreds of thousands of kilometers, with tents, trailers, caravans and motor homes. We have camped in outback Queensland and the Pilbara, Cooktown to Denmark. We recently decided to record our campsites on CD discs for our own reference, then a few friends wanted discs, then people we met wanted them, and so Oz Trekkin was borne. The next step of course was the greatest innovation of modern times "the super highway" so the web page came along, and this we present to you.

Here at Oz Trekkin we have personally visited all the campsites that we present. We have only included sites that are nice, and that you would want to spend a night or longer at. Included are several pictures of each site, and a list of the amenities provided and also whether they are "dog" friendly, I travel with a miniature poodle and know what it is like after a long days driving to be turned away because of him.

Helpful Info about what you won't find is expensive caravan parks, or roadside sites that consist of a 44 gallon drum overflowing with rubbish and filth, so close to the road that the back wash of the passing trucks shake the van. We have a few caravan parks listed, all under $20 for two people and of course showgrounds, that nearly always have all amenities at prices ranging from (a few free) but mostly $8 to $15 for a night for 2.
